Some characters in the Fight Squad canon came together relatively easily design-wise, while other took a bit of to-ing and fro-ing to work out; while others have actually had a total false start, being designed once and then.... er, designed again. Such was the case with the tree-despising villain Loggerhead, who was based on little more than the generic idea of a 'lumberjack' - this first pass design certainly looked the business: burly, surly, manly and moustachioed, and tough enough to chop (or even bite!) through tree trunks with sheer physical strength. He also had the right lumberjack-style costume, chunky boots, hard-wearing denim trousers and braces, and signature plaid checkerboard shirt. However, upon submitting this design to Fight Squad creator Mike Botur, his response was an unequivocal 'No': Why? For one thing, he looked both too old and too intellectual - or just cynical and cunning - to be the paramour (and unwitting dupe) of the floral femme fatale Kudzu; and secondly, his Wolverine-style hairdo, large nose and mighty Mo lent him too close a resemblance to a couple of characters that Mike himself had designed (such as Armageddon Inc.s Armageddon Lloyd Webber, and dapper supervillain Wuthering Heist). So, in light of that - and fair enough - it was back to the drawing board for me....
